Shutters On King
Set within a restored historic building in the heart of downtown Leesburg, Shutters on King was designed to celebrate the character of its surroundings while introducing a polished, layered hospitality experience. Spanning three levels with multiple dining spaces, a main bar, private dining, and a rooftop patio, the design gives each area its own identity while maintaining a cohesive sense of warmth and history throughout.

Original exposed brick and warm wood floors establish the foundation, complemented by rich millwork, tufted leather banquettes, tailored drapery, and a palette of deep greens, black, brass, and warm neutrals. Details such as the library wall, vintage-inspired artwork, framed mirrors, patterned flooring, and traditional lighting were layered throughout to create the feeling of a space that has evolved over time rather than something entirely new.
The bar introduces a more energetic expression of the concept, with dramatic stone surfaces, glossy tile, brass detailing, integrated lighting, and dark finishes. Throughout the dining rooms, coffered and wood-clad ceilings, architectural paneling, fireplaces, and intimate seating moments create a progression of distinct environments. Upstairs, the palette becomes lighter and more residential, allowing the historic architecture and natural light to take center stage.
The result is a refined yet approachable restaurant that bridges old and new, preserving the soul of historic Leesburg while creating a layered, timeless setting for dining, gathering, and celebrating.
