Enigma
Designed to live up to its name, Enigma was conceived as an immersive, multi-level restaurant and cocktail lounge where mystery, drama, and discovery shaped the guest experience. Located along D.C.’s U Street corridor, the 3,400-square-foot space was intentionally designed to encourage movement between its distinct environments, revealing something new at every turn.

A dark, atmospheric palette sets the tone, layered with exposed historic brick, deep crimson and emerald upholstery, warm wood, and richly textured walls. Ornate oversized mirrors, sculptural lighting, dramatic drapery, and abstract artwork introduce an eclectic, almost theatrical quality, while the building's existing architectural character provides a raw counterpoint to the more polished details.
Lighting plays an especially important role throughout the design. Glowing sculptural pendants cast warm pools of light over intimate banquettes, while concealed illumination and dramatic accent lighting emphasize texture and create a sense of depth. Velvet seating, tufted leather, antique-inspired furnishings, and intimate lounge moments further reinforce the feeling of moving through a collection of hidden rooms rather than a traditional restaurant.
The result is a seductive, eclectic and intentionally mysterious hospitality experience, one that blends restaurant, cocktail lounge, and late-night gathering space into an environment designed to spark curiosity and conversation.
